Current Reports and Projects
Nicaragua Projekt e.V. supports medical and social projects in northern Nicaragua with long-term local commitment.
The Mobile Clinic
At the heart of the work is the equipping and maintenance of a mobile clinic that provides access to medical care for the population in the north of the country, far from hospitals, practices, health centres or pharmacies.
The mobile clinic visits all 10 supported villages every month.
Since 2017, the clinic has been led by a Nicaraguan physician.
The team also includes a nurse, the driver and coordinator Gema Calderon.
Village Pharmacies and Brigadistas
To permanently improve medical care in the region and further involve the population in healthcare, Nicaragua Projekt also equips small village pharmacies with medicines and materials.
For the day-to-day operation of the Botiquines, Brigadistas — volunteer, non-medically trained villagers — are trained on-site by our doctor in the use of medicines and their application.
Our nurse monitors the pharmacies monthly to support the Brigadistas and deliver supplies.
The Maria de Nazareth Girls’ Project
Nicaragua Projekt also specifically supports the MARIA de NAZARETH association in Ocotal.
Here, girls who typically come from extremely poor, troubled families are looked after.
Alcohol, drugs, prostitution and sexual abuse form the backdrop for this need.
School attendance and, in two cases, university studies of those in care are also funded.
The Dental Project
The dental clinic is a project of the Asociacion Vida Nueva, funded by German Doctors and supervised by us.
A Nicaraguan dentist treats patients from our communities on-site and at a consultorio in Casa Nazareth.
